Budget Travel Adventures grew in part out of a love of travel. I have always enjoyed traveling, both for the destination and the adventure of the trip itself.

I enjoy saving money on such things as airfare, lodging, admissions to sights and any of those necessary trip expenses. But I don’t like saving money at the expense of comfort and fun.

If I can get a discounted airfare without being on standby and spending long hours at the airport, that’s fine. Knowing how to get the best discounts on airfares or the best times to visit certain vacation spots can often save you a lot of money.

Also, some of the most enjoyable trips are often the ones you might never even hear about. I once stopped in a little Texas town ( yes, even Texas has some little towns) and I went into a hardware store for something I needed.

While chatting with the owner I commented that Texas had such a variety of landscape, from plush green forests to barren desert sands. I mentioned that I had taken lots of great photographs.

He then proceeded to tell of a route that was not too much out of my way, but had some absolutely beautiful scenery.  He showed me the route and even though it was a few miles longer than my AAA map route, we decided to take his suggestion.

It was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip. Moral of this tale is … ask the locals and you’ll often find some “off the beaten track” wonders.

So budget travel adventures will not just be about how to save money, but how to budget time for those unplanned moments that might just be the highlight of your travels.
